“There are times when physical or emotional pain may become so overwhelming that substance use feels like the only way to remove the distress. It is my goal that, through a positive alliance, we can work together to explore healthy ways to manage life stressors and challenges. Creating a safe space for my clients is my number one priority.”
Stephanie has worked in the substance abuse field for the last ten years, in a variety of settings including medical detox, residential programs, and outpatient treatment. Her experience includes being a certified Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Crisis Counselor and extensive work with individuals who have experienced trauma. Her focus with her clients is to help them through the adverse experiences, process the thoughts, and gain inner peace towards the future. In addition to working with individuals with Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Stephanie has experience with treating individuals who have other cooccurring disorders such as anxiety and depression, as well as those who struggle with loss and spirituality. Stephanie has experience working with individuals who are involved with the legal system and the Department of Children and Families.
Stephanie is a strong advocate for the benefits of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) when needed and will collaborate with the psychiatric or primary care provider to determine how to best meet the treatment needs of the individual. Her treatment approaches focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to support the client in making progress toward pre-established goals.
